After more than a year of planning, construction on the new Wallace Elementary School is beginning. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd to celebrate the official start of school upgrades.

The community is invited to attend the public ceremony from 1:25 to 1:55 pm on the playground at the south end of Wallace where construction of the new school will take place. In addition to members of the district, construction company, and architecture firm, two third grade students will say a few words to commemorate the occasion. Photo opportunities for the public will be available after the ceremonial groundbreaking.

A private ceremony for Wallace students and staff will be held from 1:00 to 1:15 pm.

The replacement of the 78-year-old Wallace Elementary School is one of the major bond projects approved by voters in February 2018. Construction is expected to go through summer of 2020, with the new school opening anticipated in the fall of 2020.
