Planning our work so we can work our plan - Aug 16, 2018

Earlier this week we had a preliminary meeting with contractors interested in building our new elementary schools at Wallace and in Lexington. Gary Schimmel, Facilities Supervisor and Project Manager led the meeting to give the contractors a better understanding about the construction environment of both schools.

Why do that? Because we’re looking to hire a general contractor early so they can work with our architects during the design and construction document development phases. This allows the general contractor to participate as an adviser in the design process and provide input on the availability and cost of suggested materials. In the end this makes for a more solid plan with fewer change orders and less chance of delayed construction.
