Join us as we celebrate the newest addition to Lexington Elementary—and a beautiful piece of the school’s story.
Created by Washington artist Lisa Stirrett through Art in Public Places program (AIPP), the one-of-a-kind installation features three glass salmon inspired by Lexington, the Kelso community, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The salmon symbolize perseverance, resilience, and the enduring connection to home.
What makes the artwork especially meaningful is every Lexington student is part of it. Their actual handprints are incorporated throughout the installation, creating a permanent snapshot of the children who were here when this artwork became part of their school.
Please join students, staff, community members, ArtsWA, and the artist for a brief dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting as we officially welcome this extraordinary work of art to Lexington.
