Greetings Barnes Families! I hope this letter reaches you in good health. Our school year was interrupted abruptly for the health and safety of all. The transition from our daily routine of our students entering our school doors every morning, to every student learning from home, happened very quickly and was a huge change for everyone. I want to thank you for helping your student continue to learn and guiding them through the learning packets in the final two months of school. Teachers will continue to be available for support for students, and will send home learning packets every three weeks for the remainder of the school year. Oh, how I wish we were welcoming all of our kids back on campus tomorrow! I miss all of their smiling faces!
Each week, Mr. Lundberg and I meet with the district leadership team and our Barnes teaching staff via virtual online meetings. We’re very impressed with our teachers for stepping up during this very unusual time to plan learning, continue teaching, and attempting new platforms and programs to reach their students and families. Throughout the remaining weeks of school, many of our teachers are continuing their professional development with different sessions/webinars, and continuing to learn how to best serve students through distance learning. They have had minimal planning time but are still pushing ahead with innovations.
As we proceed into the month of May, I want to share some information with you about how you can retrieve your students belongings from school. During the week of May 11-15, we will open our West Parking Lot for you to car pick-up student items/materials, as well as any medications that we may still have at school. We will have a system in place for you to drive up to the Staff Greeter, tell them your child’s name, and we will deliver the belongings to your vehicle. Please stay in your cars to keep everyone safe. To help expedite the process, we ask that you please try your best to come during your allotted time slot. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Here is the schedule for Pick-Up dates/times:
May 11th (Monday): 8-12 pm
Kindergarten and 1st grade
May 12th (Tuesday): 8-12 pm
2nd and 3rd grade

As always, we want you to know how much we appreciate you! We thank you for all you are doing right now to support your family and your student(s) learning. We are very grateful for our Barnes Bears families and school community.
Please continue to stay healthy and safe.
