Dear Barnes Bears Families!!
The last couple of weeks have been unforgettable as we as a family, district, state, nation, and world continue to go through these uncharted waters. I want to reassure you that the Barnes Staff is committed to the education of all of our students. It is just going to look a bit different for a while (fingers crossed our Bears will be back on Monday, April 27). Here is how you can help us….
You will be receiving an email and/or phone call from your child’s teacher tomorrow (Thursday 3.26) to ask you a few critical questions to assist us in planning for our next steps in creating distance learning. In some cases, this call may show up as an unfamiliar name or even “blocked” so please answer for tomorrow. Questions we will be asking include: do you have wifi; does your child have access to a computer, laptop, Chromebook, or tablet; best email address for your family; can your child print from home. These are just a few of the questions you will be asked.
We will then be gathering the information to provide either online or packet based distant learning scheduled to begin April 20. Please make sure that you are visiting our district website or app along with the Barnes Facebook Page for updates and resources. www.kelso.wednet.edu Monday through Friday we are still serving grab and go meals at Huntington Middle School for all children 18 years old and younger from 10:30-11:30.
Finally, I want to encourage you to take time and turn off the electronics (news included) to get some fresh air, play a game with your family, or sit down and visit with your child. In a stressful time as this can be, make sure you are taking care of you and connecting with others (in a socially responsible manner). Purposely expose yourself and those you are with to positive messages and the beauty in your surroundings.
Know the staff of Barnes cares deeply about you and your family and we can’t wait to see you again!!
