Welcome to STOP

Welcome to STOP, Standing Together on Prevention, a collaborative community coalition working together to reduce youth substance abuse in Kelso since 2006.  In 2010 we applied for and were awarded a Drug Free Communities Grant to continue our work in Kelso for five more years.  We are currently working to enhance positive norms messages in the community by asking adults to keep alcohol and other drugs out of kids’ hands and support a healthy community.  The coalition is constantly recruiting Kelso community members to help represent the community as we make decisions about our projects.  Please contact us stop.coalition@kelso.wednet.edu or 360-501-1938 if you are interested in participating.

For the past five years Kelso School District received a federal grant to reduce underage drinking in Huntington Middle School students, and the Kelso community as a whole. From there, a group of volunteer community members were asked to form a coalition to participate in the process of the grant.

The mission of the coalition is to reduce substance use among youth in the Kelso Community through relationship building, advocacy, empowerment, and education.
