Working together to create a healthy community for children and families of Kelso.
For the past 2 years the focus of the STOP Coalition’s work has been to create awareness in the community by educating and mobilizing coalition members to assess the strengths of their community—to prepare them to spread the mission of the STOP Coalition throughout the community.
Our work is expanding as we continue to create and support community projects, activities, and initiatives.
MISSION: The purpose of the Coalition is to reduce substance abuse among youth in the Kelso community through relationship building, advocacy, empowerment, and education.
VISION STATEMENT: Working together to create a healthy community for children and families of Kelso.
VALUES:- Meeting the basic needs of the children of Kelso resulting in physical, spiritual, emotional, and academic well being. -
- Supporting adults in our community to pursue their personal and educational goals.
- Strengthening families and encouraging them to spend quality time together, and to engage in their children's and the community's health and welfare.
- Promoting inter-family connections where families value and respect each other, support one another and encourage healthy lifestyles.
- Supporting children’s education while they are ready to learn, value their education, and respect themselves and others.
- Engaging children and youth in the community through group projects, sports, clubs and volunteer efforts.
- Empowering youth and adults in our community with skills and strategies to make healthy choices and promoting healthy messages regarding responsible choices.
