Certificate of Academic Achievement
Beginning with the class of 2008, students graduating from public high schools
in Washington must earn the Certificate of Academic Achievement by demonstrating
achievement of the 10th-grade reading, writing and math standards on the Washington
Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) by the end of high school. Science will
be added to the certificate’s requirements for the class of 2010. The
certificate helps ensure that all students – not just the college-bound
– have the basic skills needed to succeed after high school, regardless
of where their families live, how much money they have or what language they
speak.
