DIVISION II (2005 & AFTER) | DIVISION I (2008 & AFTER)

NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE

If you are a student interested in participating in NCAA division I or division II athletics, you MUST file with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Please fill out the registration form online, see link at bottom of the page.

For students entering any Division I college or university on or after August 1, 2008, your NCAA initial eligibility will be evaluated under the 16 core-course rule as described in the charts below:

THE CHANGES:

The number of core courses has increased from 13 to 14. This additional course may be in the area of: English, mathematics, natural/physical science, social science, foreign lanuage or nondoctrinal religion/philosophy.

DIVISION I
16 Core-Course Rule
2008 and after

16 Core Courses:
4 years of English
3 years of mathematics
(Algebra or higher)
2 years natural/physical science
(1 year of lab science)
1 year of additional English, math, or science
2 years of social science
4 years of additional courses from any of the above foreign language or nondoctinal religion/philosopohy

 
DIVISION II
2005 and after

14 Core Course:
3 years of English
2 years of mathematics
(Algebra or higher)
2 years of natural/physical science
(1 year of lab science)
1 year of additional English, math, or science

2 years of social science
3 years of additional courses from any of the above foreign language or nondoctinal religion/philosopohy
