CELL PHONE USE AND DRESS CODE

Cell Phone and Dress Code Reminder

Welcome back Huskies!

We hope you had a fantastic Spring Break and are returning refreshed and renewed.

During this morning’s Husky Huddle our primary focus included a review of cell phones use and the dress code.

As a student body we reviewed cell phone usage and school wide expectations associated with cell phones. A primary guideline associated with cell phone usage to review with your child is:

·         Cell phones need to be off and out of sight between the first bell in the morning and the dismissal bell in the afternoon.

The full explanation of “Cell Phones” can be found on p. 22 of the Student Handbook.

Our second topic of discussion was dress code. As we move further into the spring this is a topic that will come up more frequently. We reviewed appropriate vs. inappropriate dress and examples of each. Primary guideline associated with dress code to review with your child are:

·         Tops must cover bra straps, shoulder blades, and midriffs.

·         While students stand with arms at their side skin should not be visible above the finger tips. This includes shorts, skirts, holes in pants, etc.

·         Underwear should not be visible.

·         Logos and messages on clothing must be school appropriate. Examples of inappropriate include: Drug use, Alcohol, Racism, Obscenities, Gang Activity, Sexual conduct, hate, etc. These are topics that disrupt the learning environment.

The full explanation of “Dress” can be found on pages 23-24 in the HMS Student Handbook.
