Community Use of District Facilities

Kelso School District encourages the use of it’s buildings for activities which enhance the lives of those in our community. District policy requires that all organized events occurring one or more hours before or after school, are requested and approved using our online facility use program.  If you are having difficulty, please contact the Community Use program coordinator.    The Facilities Use Calendar reflects all scheduled activities district wide.

How to Request an Event (KSD Staff Only)

Kelso School District staff use MySchoolBuilding to request facilities.  Here is an step-by-step Requester’s Video Guide to creating an event.  For those who prefer a hard copy, here is a  Facilities Use Handbook

Pest & Weed Management

Our detailed, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan aligns with our efforts of keeping the school environment safe and healthy for students, staff and visitors.

As much as possible, we rely on non-chemical controls such as student-adopted garden areas, good classroom housekeeping and the acceptance of weeds in lawns. We do spray for pests and weeds when necessary, but never when students are in school. Typically we spray during the winter, spring or summer breaks when children are absent. In the case of an infestation requiring immediate attention, we schedule treatment for a weekend in order to allow 48 hours before students return to the building. During the 48 hours a bright green notification is posted on the entrance door and in the area of treatment. If you wish to receive written notification when we spray within 48 hours of students being in the building, you must complete a notification form which is sent home at the beginning of the school year. These forms are also available by calling 501-1931.

Small Public Works Roster, Consultant Roster, and Vendor Roster Registration

The Kelso School District maintains our Small Public Works Roster and Consultant Roster in the MRSC Rosters online database. Businesses interested in working with our School District on projects must register at www.mrscrosters.org and select the Kelso School District in your application.

FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE

All Kelso School District facilities will meet the learning needs of students, will provide for staff and community needs, and will comply with current health, safety and accessibility standards.

  • We will complete a facilities study and survey to address current and future facilities needs.
  • We will develop a maintenance/replacement program for our facilities and equipment which includes “green certification” pursuant to Leadership Energy Environmental Design (LEED), wherever possible.
  • We will promote building/facility use for community education

Kelso School District contributes to improving the quality of water in our local streams and rivers by implementing the elements defined within our Stormwater Management Program.
