November 2009 Greetings Barnes Families, I am hoping this message finds you healthy, warm and dry as we begin to move from fall into winter. Although not conducive to the many outdoor activities that we all enjoy, the weather encourages me to focus on pursuits indoors, which by their very nature places my family in closer quarters. I hope this season finds the same true for you, and you have many opportunities to snuggle in with your children for quality time. We had a strong start to our year, both in enrollment and family support. Our enrollment held steady and we even experienced a slight increase of students. Our fall activities each produced a strong showing, with the largest turnout ever at both the annual Father-Daughter Ball and Muffins with Mom events. November will be busy with Doughnuts for Dads coming up November 12 at 7:45 AM (we’ll put the coffee on!) and the weeklong Missoula Children’s Theater workshop beginning the week of November 16. MCT and Barnes Elementary will hold two performances of “Robinson Crusoe” on Saturday Nov. 21 at 2:00 and 6:00 PM. I hope you can join us to support this event. Please note that there are separate admission charges for each performance. This helps to defray the costs of the workshop. Auditions for the cast will be held on Monday November 16 after school on the cafeteria side of the gym. At the end of November we will begin parent-teacher conferences, with our first 1:00 PM dismissal on Monday, November 30. This dismissal schedule will continue through Monday December 7. We are looking forward to exchanging information about your children’s progress, as well as having your company in the building that week. Until the next time, I wish all of you many blessings.
