RIF
of Cowlitz County
will be at our school three times during the school year. Children
in preschool, kindergarten, and first, second, and third grades
will attend a story reading activity and have the opportunity to
choose a book to bring home and keep. Volunteers will be on hand
to read to your child a portion of his or her book. We invite you
to be one of the readers on RIF Day because parents and family members
are important partners in teaching children to read.
RIF of Cowlitz County purchases books with federal funds from Reading
Is Fundamental, Inc., and with financial support from the United
Way of Cowlitz County, PTA's and PTO's, community groups, and local
fundraising.
The U.S. Department of Education says that reading aloud to your
child is the single most important thing a parent can do to build
young readers. We hope that you and your child will share the RIF
books together at home.
