All Day Kindergarten Update

The Kelso School District recognizes the strong interest and inquiries from parents regarding All Day Kindergarten in our district. Implementing All Day Kindergarten is a high priority for the district as reflected in the district’s newly adopted Strategic Plan: Roadmap for Results (click here for additional details on Early Learning). Another high priority for the Kelso School District is to continue to be fiscally responsible with limited resources. Currently, the Legislature is still in session and deliberating how much they will commit to funding All Day Kindergarten, in addition to other significant education programs. At this point, the Kelso School District feels that the most fiscally responsible position to take is to wait for a final decision from the Legislature before committing. This will allow the district to establish an accurate budget before moving forward. As evident in the Early Learning Focus Area of the strategic plan, the district is ready to move forward with All Day Kindergarten if the budget allows it.
